Over the years, when people have asked me questions about my life, I find myself wondering, where do I start? So much has happened and so many painful and challenging things kept coming at me with unmitigated consistency, that I started calling myself the Queen of Whammies. I’m living proof, that no matter how many whammies we encounter, we can survive. Most importantly, we can still have hope, still have joy, still have the will to live, and even more, we can live with gusto. This is my story—my life as I lived it. I have stated the facts as I know them and lived them. Now when people ask me about my life, I look at them, shrug and say, “You need to read the book.”

About the Author: Rebecca Stanbery Black, self-proclaimed Queen of Whammies, has spent her life renovating dilapidated houses, rescuing homeless cats and dogs, raising two special-needs daughters and picking herself up from one whammy after another. She lives with her menagerie of animals in her seventh house, under construction.
